Here is a prayer drill that
has helped me to have a spiritual
experience each time I breathe
remembering what the prayer
establishes as a powerful
realization: GOD IS BREATHING THE
BREATH OF LIFE IN ME EVERY TIME I
PRAY!
- * EVERY BREATH I
BREATHE
- * IS A SPIRITUAL
BREATH
- * AS WELL AS A
PHYSICAL BREATH
- * AND IS THE VERY
BREATH OF LIFE,
- * RENEWING MY MIND
AND BODY.
Why this is such a powerful
spiritual tool for me is due to
what I believe "spiritual breath"
means. The meaning has been
building in my consciousness for
the 74 years I have been thinking
and living The Unity Way.
These truths will make the
prayer drill powerful for you
too, so let's think together
about the meaning of "spiritual
breath."
The essence is that spiritual
breath precedes and produces
physical breath. This is the
revelation we have in finding
that Genesis1 is God creating all
life, including "man",
spiritually, and materially or
physically or earthly in Genesis
2.
I think the best way to
conceive of God is as ISNESS or
what Charles Fillmore, Unity's
co-founder, calls PURE BEING. All
creativeness is implied by these
terms. ISNESS does not require
something prior to give it it's
power. Anything that can ever
happen is implied in the
term.
So when you and I practice the
idea that God or ISNESS is
breathing, living, creating in
and as ourselves and every
creation of God, it is possible
for us to conceive that God can
create or manifest ANYTHING
through us and for us!
Do you suppose that evolution
is implied by the fact that
Genesis 1 has God creating
everything else spiritually
before then saying, "Let us
create man in our image ...
"?
Chapter 2 begins with the
words,
"Thus the heavens and
the earth were finished, and
all the host of them."
The Truth movement teaches
that everything you and I pray
for, study over, experiment with
is already finished in God Mind
and is ready to come forth into
experience and manifestation when
we function as part of the "Let
us team."
So when we breathe oxygen
(which, by the way, appeared on
the planet after millions and
millions of years and made
breathing possible!) we are
functioning physically as a
result of the spiritual breathing
that is God continuing to breathe
the "breath of life" as our soul
or spiritual being, our eternal
being. It's all the same breath;
we are alive spiritually and
physically as one life - no gap
in between! Every time we
breathe, we are spiritually and
physically empowered and renewed
and ready to participate in
life's (God's) creativeness.
The Bible story establishes
imaging as important in the
creative process. What we image
clearly and believingly comes
into manifestation or experience
as soon as it is "finished",
completed, in consciousness.
To think in this way makes our
breathing every day more and more
a spiritual process because we
know God is empowering us with
the very breath of life!
Through the years it has
loomed as of increasing
importance that we attribute all
the spiritual truths we identify
with to all others:
- * EVERY BREATH I
BREATHE
- * IS A SPIRITUAL
BREATH
- * AS WELL AS A
PHYSICAL BREATH
- * AND IS THE VERY
BREATH OF LIFE,
- * RENEWING MY MIND
AND BODY.
