"I walk in an
envelope of Light." These
powerful words came through me
upon my awakening from a good
night's rest with the
recollection of a dream that left
me with spiritual
feelings.
This describes
the inviolable perfection of the
soul (our eternal God-Self). And
it also describes the relatively
free-from-negative-conditions-state
in which we CAN humanly function
when we are conscious of our
oneness with God.
As I have
contemplated the message of this
statement, I see that it is the
exact opposite of trying to be
perfect and particularly of
trying not to be
imperfect!
It is being
God-conscious instead of
self-conscious and is not based
on our performance. I am
developing my ideas here as I
think of the lives of St.
Augustine, St. Francis, Mahatma
Gandhi, and Mother Teresa. I see
these persons thinking about
remaining true to their spiritual
convictions instead of giving up
because they were imperfect. And
that is one of the keys to the
spiritual life because God can
express when we are God-conscious
instead of
self-conscious.
In other
words, when you and I are
thinking about the perfection of
God instead of our own SEEMING
imperfection, what comes through
looks pretty good. The saints
were not perfect either, but we
could see God shining
through.
When you and I
more and more walk in the
envelope of Light consciousness,
God will shine through us! One
more thing must also be included
as we think about "I walk in an
envelope of Light" -- the feel of
this is how it feels to be warm
and secure in love. This envelope
of Light in which we live, move,
and have our being is the Love of
God that loves us unconditionally
as we make the "mistakes", commit
the "sins" and don't quite come
through humanly. All that will
lessen and lessen as we increase
our reliance upon our walk with
(in) God!
