On November first I awakened
with the words I AM OPEN AND
RECEPTIVE TO THE JESUS CHRIST
CONSCIOUSNESS.
After repeating them and
thinking about them for several
minutes, something about them
just didn't seem right. So I
began to survey what- in this
form - I was actually
visualizing, and the realization
was that they left me with the
feeling of trying to tune into
something that was outside
me.
This was definitely what was
wrong. For many years I have
known that consciousness is not
geographical. But the long-held
view of humanity that God is
outside, above, and in the
somewhere called heaven seems to
cling to us all! Later (several
days later) I realized it was
this old perception - not the
words - that was wrong. They
simply mean to be receptive, free
of all resistance, to the Jesus
Christ consciousness which by
definition is not outside. Once
the old perception is dropped,
the words are perfect.
My contemplation produced the
statement THE JESUS CHRIST
CONSCIOUSNESS IS ALIVE IN ME, AND
I AM EXPRESSING IT FOR THE GOOD
OF ALL HUMANITY. And then I began
to become excited - really
excited - because I had the
feeling that I had just opened
the very first Christmas gift I -
and you - had been given: the
Jesus Christ consciousness!
Instead of trying to be open
to it - coming from somewhere
outside -I was taking Rupert
Sheldrake's view, that Jesus'
breakthrough had been shared with
everyone and was available for
the acceptance. (Please review my
November website essay for an
explanation of Sheldrake's
idea.)The gift of the Jesus
Christ consciousness was actually
in me, in you, now. Remember His
words in John 14:20:
"At that day ye
shall know that I am in my
Father, and ye in me, and I in
you."
And Paul says that we have
been prepared for it for a long
time because Christ has always
been within us:
"Even the mystery
which hath been hid from ages
and from generations, but now
is made manifest to his
saints:/To whom God would make
known what is the riches of
the glory of this mystery
among the Gentiles; which is
Christ in you, the hope of
glory." Col. 1: 26,27 .
As I continued to deal with
this wonderful new feeling that
the Jesus Christ consciousness is
in me and I in it and that it is
ready to come into the
consciousness of all persons, I
of course remembered one of my
very favorite things Jesus said
to us (this time from His
resurrected-ascended state as
recorded in Rev. 3:20:
"Behold, I stand
at the door, and knock: if any
man hear my voice, and open
the door, I will come in to
him, and will sup with him,
and he with me."
I knew that I had really heard
the voice and the knock and had
opened the door. Christ was now
not just the potential that has
been waiting for all of us to
actualize, but was in me and with
me and expressing through me
right now! It was thrilling to
contemplate what lies ahead of us
in such acceptance. I felt a new
empowerment. I had received more,
and had more to give. But I also
knew I was in the Jesus Christ
consciousness PRE-SCHOOL, a lot
to learn, but glad for the
opportunity!!!
I know, as I write this, that
it is hard for us to think of
ourselves as being anything like
Jesus, but let's look at it this
way: our Moms and Dads taught us
always to accept a gift with
thanks. Can you and I accept the
gift of Jesus Christ - God's gift
to us - with thanks? And let's
not forget - He Himself told us
we could be like Him if we
believed in Him. It's up to us to
believe that God's unlimited
possibilities can express to and
through us when we get our
false-self limitations out of the
way and let God take over in our
lives. This is what Jesus
did!
Someone said very well that
Life is God's gift to us; what we
do with it is our gift to
God!
Here is our opportunity -
Merry Christmas to us!
