WHATEVER THIS TRUTH IS RELATES
TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US -, IS
THE TRUTH ABOUT OUR LIFE!
This is why Unity has always
identified itself with the Truth
movement.
The fundamental teaching of
Unity is that telling ourselves
the Truth about God, life, self,
and others - along with resting
in the silence to sense our
connection with God (that is, our
oneness) - can lift us from all
our troubles and problems into
health and well-being.
People often ask, "What is
Truth?"
- In the first place, Truth
consists of the raw materials,
both invisible and visible,
that we have to work with in
life: the invisible
God-qualities/ideas; the
elements of the material,
visible world. We use
God-ideas to produce results
in the visible world!
- In the second place, Truth
means taking a loving,
intelligent, positive,
faithful, hopeful, optimistic
and never-give-up attitude
towards how we apply ourselves
to everything that life
entails.
Working with these
definitions, keeping in mind our
first statements that God is the
Truth about life and the
potential and possibilities of
life, and that all of these
possibilities are within us to
make use of, we can live
successfully in this world.
HOW TO
PRAY
There are two states of
consciousness that put us in
touch with God.
- The first is when we are
thinking or feeling positive,
hopeful, optimistic, loving,
confident, creative thoughts
that recognize that life is
good, that we and all others
are filled with the potential
for giving and sharing great
goodness, and when we are
placing ourselves in a circle
of wholeness that doesn't
begin with self, but sees how
we are all one working
together for mutual good.
- The second is when we are
feeling and recognizing that
we have been trying to go it
alone, need help, and ask God
for help! When this is
sincere, we are ready to
receive.
These two states of
consciousness are distinctly
different from when we are
affirming negatives instead of
positives, denying love, denying
hope, feeling guilty or blaming
others, dwelling in the past,
identifying with mistakes,
settling for going around in
negative circles instead of
bravely stepping out into the
light with trust.
People often feel that they
are separated from God or don't
know how to make the connection.
The Truth is that our very
existence is
our connection - the better
word is oneness. We need to
realize this, to be conscious
that we are one with all that God
is. This is our potential, and it
depends upon how we think to
bring it into expression.
Our problem really is that we
still think of God as outside
ourselves, up in some kind of
"spiritual other-land." And all
the time our key to finding God
is within ourselves, others, and
all that is, both invisible and
visible. None of this is really
outside! So when we identify God
as our true Self, we have found
God. Then it follows that we see
that God, our true
Self, must be absolutely the same
true Self of others.
"At that day ye
shall know that I am in my
Father, and ye in me, and I in
you."--John 14:20.
