A scientist might say, Science
hasn't gone far enough - we
haven't had sufficient time - to
use the word "impossible."
What I'm writing about this
month was sparked by my thinking
about the common phrase "nothing
is impossible." You and I know
that the intended meaning here is
that no thing is impossible, but
there is another message in this
for me: it is impossible for
there to be nothing!
We don't know enough yet even
to have a clue about what
preceded the big bang or God's
creation, but all of us have had
the good sense to assert that
there never could have been a
condition described as
NOTHING!
In our present state of
consciousness, the human race
needs - "to be realistic or
practical" - to say that there
are probably plenty of "things"
that seem impossible.
There are families in many
regions whose homes have been
burned to the ground in forest
fires. Obviously it doesn't
appear that the grain of mustard
seed faith Jesus talks about will
enable these people to restore
their homes "out of thin air"
instantly. No, but the realistic,
practical point for us human
beings at this time in our
unfoldment is that these families
are not left with NOTHING.
They may use that word; it surely
may look that way, but there is
no such as NOTHING.
The conclusion I'm suggesting
to us is that we want to resist
the all-too-easy inclination to
say - about lots of circumstances
- "it's impossible." This was
Jesus' point. He was doing
everything He could, by teaching
and by His miracles and parables,
to teach us FAITH: believe
it can happen and it will
happen.
Maybe, again to be realistic
and practical, you and I may
prefer to say "very likely it can
happen." We don't know enough yet
to do better than that, but, if
we will refrain from saying "it's
impossible," "all is surely lost
now," etc., and keep on building
our faith - our trust - in Life's
(God's) possibilities, we
will experience such amazing
results that we'll just naturally
burst out with NOTHING IS
IMPOSSIBLE, and we'll know
what we really mean:
NO THING IS
IMPOSSIBLE TO HIM WHO
BELIEVES!
