This caption pretty well
establishes for me what the Unity
way of life is. Two of the most
famous spiritual statements of
the Fillmores express this
principle, and I believe have
greatly influenced me in my
interpretation of what it is to
live the Unity way:
In 1942 the Fillmores'
"Dedication and Covenant" was
discovered in the archives of
Unity School. It was written and
signed by both Charles and Myrtle
Fillmore on December 7, 1892:
Dedication and
Covenant
"We,
Charles Fillmore and Myrtle
Fillmore, husband and wife,
hereby dedicate ourselves,
our time, our money, all we
have and all we expect to
have, to the Spirit of
Truth, and through it, to
the Society of Silent
Unity.
It being understood and
agreed that the said Spirit
of Truth shall render unto
us an equivalent for this
dedication, in peace of
mind, health of body,
wisdom, understanding,
love, life, and an abundant
supply of all things
necessary to meet every
want without our making any
of these things the object
of our existence.
In the presence of the
Conscious Mind of Christ
Jesus, this 7th day of
December, 1892."

Myrtle Fillmore
The second is a prayer I have
long loved. I believe my memory
of it is accurate:
"Invocation"
"I am now
in the presence of pure
Being, and immersed in the
Holy Spirit of life, love,
and wisdom. I acknowledge
Thy presence and Thy power,
0 Blessed Spirit. In Thy
divine wisdom, now erase my
mortal limitations and,
from Thy pure substance of
love, bring into
manifestation my world,
according to Thy perfect
law."
You will see in these two
statements no denial of the
material, physical, human world,
but spiritual consciousness is
obviously what they have
dedicated themselves to. They
believed that whatever they might
need of the things of the world
would flow from their spiritual
dedication.
You and I also believe this,
don't we? And we see the
principle fulfilling itself in
our lives and in the Unity church
where the principle is taught and
practiced.
The practice of consciously
living in the Presence of Pure
Being is the key to the spiritual
life and to the life of peace of
mind, health of body, wisdom,
understanding, love, life, and an
abundant supply of all things
necessary to meet every want
without our making any of these
things the object of our
existence. To live this way is to
rise out of ego into the
wholeness of our Self, as God
created us, which is always the
Truth about us when at times our
human behavior and experience may
seem otherwise!
