Recently, I had a deep
conviction that - at last! - I
would be REALLY practicing
Charles Fillmore's 12 powers
meditation. I was right, and it
has been an enjoyable, rewarding
experience each day. The
beginning was October 12, and, as
I write this, it is October 26th.
Today the meditation burst open
to an even greater dimension than
I have been experiencing.
Suddenly this morning I saw
that I was now relating the 12
powers to an idea that has been
part of my consciousness for a
good many years: thinking that
the universe is my larger body!
In my daily practice I have
realized that calling my 12
disciple-qualities is symbolic of
entering into the realization of
spiritual wholeness, that is, the
Jesus Christ consciousness. Today
the picture became clearer. I
have for such a long time loved
thinking of the universe as my
larger body, and this of course
relates to my recent definition
of God that I have shared with
you in other website pieces: God
is everything and everybody -both
invisible and visible, spiritual
and human. The larger body
includes all of us; we are truly
one!
So today what is going on in
my consciousness is that I am not
thinking of MY 12 powers,
but of THE twelve powers
as representing the wholeness of
all persons and of how the
complete nature of God is
operating in all of us to bring
each of us individual blessings
that harmonize with the life of
every person in the universe.
(Somehow just to say in the world
doesn't seem enough. We actually
are cosmic beings!)
I am sure you are seeing the
difference in the focus. In order
to rise into a truly spiritual
consciousness and life, we just
have to come out of our
compartmentalized concept of self
and into our oneness with all of
God and God's creation
represented as the universal
Self, God's only begotten!
I have been thinking along
these lines more and more
predominantly for years, and the
feeling I have about it right now
approaches ecstasy!
As you and I remove the
blinders from our eyes, a
description of our focus on our
seemingly separate human self, we
become open to all of God and
God's expression through
everything and everybody!
This is what I will be
thinking about now as I call
upon OUR twelve powers
-the whole and complete nature of
God we all share and in which we
live, move, and have our
being!
